Call 4th year



The General Secretariat of the UNAM, the General Coordination Languages ​​of UNAM and the Directorate General of the National Preparatory School, invite students of fourth year to participate in:

Contest 3rd English language skills
"Let's go to San Antonio"

Objective: To motivate students who have had a good harvest and achieved the objectives of the course of English IV.

GENERAL RULES:

A) Of the participants:

-Open to all regular students of 4th year:

· Who are studying the subject of English IV
· Who have obtained a minimum final grade of 8 in the subject of English IV
· That the end of the school year have, at least, with 90% attendance to your English course IV
· Who have attended the Mediatheque 10 hours of the 20 included in the program, to check material, research a topic or develop some other academic
· Submit a letter signed by both parents or guardians in which permission is granted to participate in a 15-day stay abroad (in the format attached registration website)
-Participation is individual.

-Not accept students who are enrolled in the Seminar advanced students of English at the National Preparatory School.

-Is not open to students who have entered the fourth year had already level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Check the list in the media library on campus with the respective information.

-The student must attend promptly to the place, the date and time you are prompted for each of the three stages of the competition.

-The student must present his credential of the ENP at time of entry.

B) The competition

-The contest will be held in each school and in each shift separately.

-Will be selected for each campus and turn of the three students who obtain the first places.

-The contest will consist of three phases to be carried out in three days to advance to the second phase, the student must pass the first with a grade of 8.5, the same procedure will be followed to move to the third stage, the stage in that the jury will decide the winners, the jury's decision is final and in no case shall tie.

First stage. The first day students must present a written exam based on the descriptors of level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), knowledge gained in English IV, for example, using everyday phrases often used, introducing himself and others; exchange basic personal and family, friends, possessions, locate places, making simple purchases; refer to the time, as well as talk about events that happened in the past.



Second phase. The second day the students will develop orally, in a maximum of five minutes, an issue that will be assigned at random. The production, understanding and interaction of students will be evaluated according to the descriptors of the CEFR A1 level, knowledge in English IV, referring, for example, the use of simple phrases and sentences to follow and give directions to a place, descriptions of people, places, family, among others, with correct pronunciation and intonation. Jurors will ask questions that students must answer clearly and fluently.



Third phase. The third day the students will develop a theme written in a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 150, using simple sentences that express such routines, preferences and abilities, as well as activities at the time, among others, which contain groups coherently linked words, basic connectors like "and", "but" and "because" also assess spelling and punctuation. The theme will be assigned randomly.



C) of registration:

Students interested in participating, complying with the general basis subsection "A" of this call, should you sign up through the following page http://letsgotosanantonio.dgenp.unam.mx, from 13 February to 27 April , 2012. The final list of students accepted will be published on May 14, 2011.



D) Awards

There will be winners of first, second and third places in each school and in each turn. The prizes are as follows:

First. A FOUNDATION-UNAM scholarship to take an intensive course in the Permanent School Extension UNAM, based in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Second. Diploma and gifts.

Third place. Diploma and gifts.

Students that are not winners will compete again next year, when studying the 5th year.

E) The Jury

The jury will be composed of:
· The Academic Secretary of each school or a representative
· The Head of the English Department of the ENP or representative
· The School of English Coordinator campus against the shift or shift coordinator, not having students participate in the contest
· A representative of the General Coordination Language
· A foreign English teacher at school or a school teacher who does not have students participating in the contest
F) Calendar

-The contest will be held on 16, 17 and 18 May 2012 at the premises of each school, in a place and time to be announced.

-The results will be published May 22 in the Academic Secretary of each school and from May 25 on page campus.

-The awards ceremony will be held on June 18, 2012.



G) 1st place winners

-They shall undertake to comply with subsections 14 and 20 of the Rules of Practice and Guided Tours of the National Preparatory School.

-Must obtain passport and U.S. visa. (To manage these documents are required to have birth-date not more than two years-as well as the permission of both parents or guardians).



Participation in the competition implies acceptance of these rules.

Any matter not provided for in this competition will be decided by the Organizing Committee.
